Recipes on the way

I have been asked to provide some more recipes by a couple of fans.

I shall get round to writing them down at some point over the next few days, but for now I am putting a link to a film I made of how to make beef rollups. They are a great standby for lunch and not exactly difficult to make. You can make them with ham or chicken, but I like beef.

I will make some films of how to make some of the other recipes for some of you eejuts who are incapable of following a written recipe. Until then, you will just have to read.

Hope you like it - if you don't you are mad.

Day 13 - a RANT

Fuming!!!

I went out for the day yesterday with my normally hale and hearty father. Poor old bugger was looking very white and washed out which is pretty unusual for him, because like me he is disgustingly healthy. He is 78 and apart from a few joint problems he is pretty fit. He was the one kind enough to donate the fat genes to me so he needs to lose some weight.

It turns out the reason for his pasty look was because he has been going to the enemy....WEIGHTWATCHERS - shame on him. I had to take him off and feed him some decent food. Once the colour had returned to his cheeks he was told in no uncertain terms that trying to exist on 1000 calories a day (with only 16% of that coming from proteins) when you are a 16 stone male is just plain NUTS. His poor body had gone into starvation mode and he was faint, weak and bad tempered.

What sort of organisation does this to people for money??

Dad has now returned to the low carb fold after his brush with the diet industry.

Day 5 - Induction is a bugger

Hello Everyone,

It's tough getting back in the saddle after so long basically eating any old crap that I want. I am a faddy eater and eat all sorts of rubbish rather than proper food that has at least some nutritional value.

All the same, its still pretty hard cutting out the sweet stuff and even tiny bits of bread, but I am standing firm and resolute.

Nevertheless, I could do with a man like the one in the picture to keep me in order.

I will be publishing some more recipes soon to help out the Rotterdam Atkineer who seems to be incapable of remembering how to cook anything unless it is written down. I made fajitas this evening, I just didn't have the tortilla wrap around the meat, salad and sour cream.

Today I did something I haven't done since I was a schoolchild - I took a lunchbox into the office. I stacked it up with virtuous foods and then went to the office and did not touch a morsel of it. I will try again tomorrow. Got some nice Emmenthal Cheese which I like with sliced up tomatoes, perhaps I will bring that.

Time for bed for me,

Goodnight,

Day 2 - lots of walking and an unfortunate accident

Day 2 and I was off out fairly early to go to the bank, do some other stuff and have breakfast in the caff with the newspaper. I hopped onto the bus for town and received a phone call from my young nephew.

I was chatting away merrily until I got up to get off the bus - the next thing I knew the bus had rammed on the anchors and I was flung backwards and landed flat on my back. Fortunately my rear end took the worst of the fall so I wasn't remotely injured, but I was left in a somewhat undignified position not dissimilar to the poor creature in the photograph. A young gentleman offered to help me up, but I refused as I feared I might do the poor lad an injury. I managed to get up, but this little incident showed me that I really do need to get the weight down. It was quite a job getting up from the floor of the bus!

A bit later I had to go to an appointment with a client. The client is about a mile from my office, so I decided to walk it. Unwise, I had forgotten that most of the mile was a steep uphill incline. I did the walk pretty fast as I was running to a timetable and arrived at the client's place pretty puffed out. I did my meeting and then had to walk back to the office. Ever had that horrible feeling that you have bitten off more than you can chew? That was how I felt today.

More walking after the office as I had to do some shopping. I am sure this was all frightfully good for me, but my goodness it was hard work.

In the evening after my dinner (roasted chicken with veg) I had a look at the Atkins Diet Bulletin Board and was delighted to find that a couple of my old cronies were still on there and grumbling because they had to start their diets all over again. The old Bulletin Board is a lifeline.

Knees are still a little swollen, but not looking too bad after today's exertions.

My bed is looking good to me.

Feeling somewhat less like beating myself up (still Day 1)

I was feeling pretty gloomy when I posted before, especially as I had been fighting with my nearest and dearest today about my weight.

After that post, I logged onto the atkins diet bulletin board - that cheered me up no end. It seems I am not the only one to have spent the last few months existing on chocolate and putting on tons of weight.

Funny how knowing that other people have f***ed up as badly as oneself cheers one up.

Now I shall look forward to my bacon and eggs in the morning with good appetite.

Here we go YET again - Day 1

Here we go yet again, back on the diet and have just struggled through the first day of Induction for the umpteenth time.

I decided to kick off the diet in style by having breakfast in the caff with my trusty Kindle in order to read the Sunday newspaper. Place was full of all the divorced fathers on access days with the children. I suppose, like me, the divorced fathers didn't want to cook either.

Felt quite restored after breakfast and headed across the road to my local Coop, dragging my new shopping trolley after me. I had quite a list of things to get, but managed to struggle around the shop without giving myself a hernia (just about). All the shopping filled up my trolley and I had to drag it up the gradual but lethal incline to my house. I was completely knackered after all that.

I have a first goal to reach now, I have a very nice 'do' to go to on the 12th March and need to be able to squeeze into my evening gear. I have a trusty black frock which I wear for concerts and the like and I normally put on a long evening coat over it. But today I decided to treat myself to a different evening jacket - a rather gothic one. Having a bit of a target will give me something to focus on.

Work tomorrow, so breakfast in the cafe as I head to the bus stop.

Back on the treadmill - Day 1

Back again after a long break during which I managed to put back on most of the weight I lost last time.

The beloved is also pretty much in the same position, so we are propping each other up again to see if we can do it this time.

I got through today totally clean. Eggs bacon and mushrooms for breakfast. Lunch was beef slices with cream cheese and pepper rolled up. Dinner was lamb mince, mushroom, onion and mixed stir fry vegetables stir fried in coconut oil.

I have also been using my bike the past few days. This was precipitated by the local utility companies digging up the roads and London Transport making ridiculous detours to the bus routes. It all got so confusing that I decided to take the bike instead. I even took the bike on the train the other day, which is a first in England for me.

Let's see how it goes this time. Lots to lose so am going to be at this for a while.
